I was wondering if anyone who is experienced with crushed stone inlay might have any suggestions. This was my first experiment with a few different types of crushed stone. I inlaid some amethyst, lapis lazuli, pyrite and some other crushed stones into some simple walnut shapes I made on the CNC machine.
Sanding Stone Inlays I use a lot of stone for inlay, including turquoise, lapis, malachite, onyx and coral. I use the Power Lock discs to sand the stone down and have never had any problem, generally starting with 80 grit and working up to 150 or 180 grit before I switch to sandpaper.

Step 2: Crushing. First, put the .75" pipe cap on the 1" pipe. Second, put the stone that needs to be crushed into the 1.5" pipe cap. Third, put the end of the smaller pipe cap on top of the stone and give the end of the pipe 1 good smack with your hammer. Watch out for your fingers if you miss!
